Dear Members:
Shawn Hogan here, Executive Director with the PEI Writers' Guild. Following the long weekend I wanted to take some time to send out a special edition PEIWG newsletter specifically about an exciting new initiative that's been a year in the making!
The inaugural Page to Pitch program was officially announced at the Charlottetown Film Festival's press conference held late last week. Due to the nature of project funding/scheduling/etc., the turnaround time for submissions is pretty quick with it being May 15th! It cannot be stated enough how unique of an opportunity this is for our organization and for PEI writers, and so I'd like to personally ask for your support in this venture. We'd love for Island writers to share this news far and wide so that we can get as many submissions and qualified applicants as possible! Whether it be by letting your friends know directly, by sharing our social media posts regarding it, or directing folks to our website for more details, the support will be tremendously impactful.
This program is a big first step for the PEI Writers' Guild, as we now have the opportunity to support Island writers in an entirely new way, by contributing to our province's growing television and film industry and developing a pipeline of screenwriting talent. Our organization believes that PEI is a hotbed of storytelling and writing talent, and this program is an important first step to demonstrate that to the world.
